I’ve been a snail mailer for years, but things have gotten a little quiet lately... So I’m here to meet new people!

Let me tell you a little bit more about myself first – but before you read on, remember that I am someone who writes a lot! Don’t worry, I’m not expecting 80 page letters every week... But I don’t believe in impersonal letters. Anyway, as long as the length of this profile doesn’t scare you away, I think we’re good! ;)

So, here goes... A few of my hobbies are listening to music (I love all kinds of music, classical, soundtracks, rock, pop, and Italian music like Laura Pausini, haha! My favourite bands are ‘oldies’ like The Carpenters, ABBA and The Beatles. Especially the Carpenters, I’ve always loved their music. But, like I said, it really doesn’t matter what kind of music it is... Usually I like it all!). I love playing the piano and singing. When I was sixteen years old, I started to play the cello as well, and it's just wonderful to do! (Although you should know I haven’t practiced seriously enough, so I don’t play the cello that well... And I don’t take lessons anymore at the moment, so there’s not much progress going on either... ;) It is one of my dreams to play in an orchestra one day, though. So yes, it is in my planning start with the instrument again... someday, haha.)

Other things I like doing with my time are drawing, spending time with my friends, cooking, baking, collecting Star Wars stuff... although I don’t spend a lot of money on that anymore... (I’ve always loved the original trilogy, and now Revenge of the Sith has touched me in a way no other movie ever did before! Maybe this sounds weird to you in a first message, haha. But you really needn’t worry: I’m not a freaky fan who can talk about nothing else than science fiction. Star Wars has just always been a part of my life, so I often mention it when it comes to likes and hobbies, that’s all... And by the way – of course I would like to meet other Star Wars fans! So you can send me a message if you’re interested... :))
I really like watching movies in general. Other movies I love are The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Armageddon, Love Actually, Forrest Gump, Chocolat, Titanic, Moulin Rouge... and lots more, haha! I’m not very much into the horror-genre though... I get way too scared! Oh, and I’m a big fan of all the Disney movies. Especially the ones with the princesses, you know, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast... so cute! Well, and finally I love reading books, I read every single day. I’d love to work in a bookstore, or – even better! – own a bookstore myself one day, when I’m older. Preferably a children’s bookstore, I am very much into children’s books. Did you see the movie "You've got mail"? Well, something like the little shop around the corner that Meg Ryan owns in that one. Oh yes, and of course (ballroom)dancing is a great hobby of mine. I did ballroom dancing for 3 years when I was younger, and I took some (Argentinean) Tango lessons last year. Those classes were amazing! Unfortunately, I'm not taking lessons at the moment… I’d love to start again soon though... when I’ve got more time! ;)

Before I auditioned for the conservatory, I was in the classical languages (Latin & Greek) program for a while, at the University of Leiden. The subjects were really interesting, it covers a lot: history, grammar and language, archaeology, art...

Well, as you may have guessed by now, I love to write snail mail! :) Haha. I just love writing long, colorful letters and – of course – receiving them myself. I just think it's so wonderful to receive a hand-written letter in my mailbox! It can totally make my day. Don’t you think so too?

I'd like to have a penfriend who writes long (and colorful) letters, so I hope you like talking about lots of things, just like me! On top of that I think I have to say that I’m not just looking for some 'plain' penpalling about the weather. I’ve learned in the past that real friendships can grow through letters, and I hope this will happen far more often!
I always love to hear about how people are doing, and about everything that’s going on in their lives. And on top of that, I’m very much into discussing languages, travelling, and the cultural exchange that comes with snail mailing and meeting foreign people. It’s kind of the same as meeting new people with different backgrounds and ideas. And finally, I’m eager to improve my English – and I would also love to improve my high-school-French! I offer Dutch grammar in return... :)

Anyway, I’m looking for someone who I have something – or several things – in common with... to share stories, everyday life, thoughts, ideas, and lots of other things... Well, I think you get the picture, haha! ;)
