More About Me

So, who am I?

I live in Finland in a small town. Mostly it feels just too small because there ain't much what you can do here. Maybe it could be exciting for foreigner for a while but since I've lived here all my life this town only makes me bored. Especially after I come back from some bigger place. After my stay in Barcelona in April 2007 my own town felt so dull I just wanted to cry!

In my freetime I do some sports and hang out with my friends. I've played football for a few years now. Our team doesn't play so seriously, though. So, please don't ask me how often we win or how many goals I've scored. Actually, I'm not very good at football at all. I'm pretty sure I'd be better for example at basketball but SINCE OUR TOWN IS SO SMALL playing basketball in a team isn't possible.

Internet is also something that really takes a big part of my freetime. I love net. You may have heard about Finns shyness and for us Internet is a lot easier way to get to know people! I have to admit I'm pretty shy myself when there's a situation in which I should just go to talk and try to make friends with some person I don't know. It's a lot easier just to send him/her a message, isn't it! ;)

And then there's music! I listen to music for many hours a day. It's mostly due to the fact that I spend so much time in front of the computer. While I sit here I always listen to something. I also listen to music while driving a car, working etc. Happily, you can carry your mp3-player with you where ever you go. ^^ So, what kind of music do I listen to? I think Finns have some kind of reputation of being into metal music. If you've seen pictures of Tuska metal festival from Helsinki you know what I mean! And yeah, I like metal music, too. I think it really is MUSIC. Some stupid pop songs are in my opinion so simple and after you've heard the few times you only end up hating them. Of course, this is just my opinion. And I don't only listen metal music! Actually, I have to say that at the moment I'm more into emo and indie. Sometimes ska punk can also be very cheering! So, I'm not judging music by it's genre. Still, I have to say that I haven't really heard many good rap or pop songs. If any. There's a list of bands i like: Lapko, AFI, The Used, Stam1na, Freak Kitchen, Opeth, Katatonia, Novembre, Deerhoof, Skid Row, My Chemical Romance, Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Mew, Streetlight Manifesto, Norther, Klimt 1918, Trivium etc.

Hmm, and some other things I really like:

-Philosophy. I really enjoy reading about ontology, realism, moral values etc. I just love pholosophical theories! Though, I must say my own life philosophy is quite materialistic. (And now I mean philosophical materialism. I don't mean to say I love everything made of plastic etc. :D) Idealism or dualism just feels a bit too supernatural for me. Still, love the theories... I noticed there's a channel for philosophy in Mailfriends, too. Unfortunately, for me discussing philosophical issues in English still sounds a bit difficult.

-Psychology. Well, maybe it's the same as in philosophy. There are pretty interesting theories in psychology, too. It's a shame that I don't find psychology quite as fascinating as philosophy cause, however, it has to be admitted that today's world psychology is more useful than philosophy.

-Languages and travel. It would be great to just travel all over the world, meet people from different cultures and speak various languages! However, I haven't really travelled a lot and only my English is fluent. Okay okay, my Finnish is quite perfect, too. ;) I've studied German for three years now and I can speak it but I don't know all the words which limits the communication. However, I LOVE German. Such a great language! I've also studied Swedish cause it's compulsory in Finland. However, I've never really liked the language and because I haven't now studied it for an year I don't really remember anything. If I see written Swedish I can propably translate the main parts of it but speaking Swedish is a whole different thing. If I try I'll only end up mumbling some German words...

Huh, I've wrote a lot now. And still I feel there would be a lot to tell. Don't hesitate to contact me! Though, I have to say "hi how are you" -comments are a bit dull. But okay, maybe it's just a good and neutral way to start. :)
