More About Me

I'm not on mailfriends much these days, sorry. Check out my page at http://people.tribe.net/anjouleme for regular updates, pics, etc.

The sole purpose of life is the experience of living.

I am a student of life. Nothing more. I am flawed and filled with icky inconsistencies. Anais Nin once said "Perfection is static." I want nothing of perfection. I want to live, learn and grow. Give me honest people who are honest with themselves, even about their flaws and little idiosyncratic ways, and we shall wallow together in the beautiful stickyness that is human nature.

Things I treasure: My friends, unabashed laughter, deep pathos and feeling, color and sound, creative fits, nature and animals, nights under starlight, the smell of rosemary, contemplative stillness, gentle thinking spirits, child-like awareness, vivacity

Things I have accepted: My own human-ness, ignorance, mistakes, stormy weather, silence, chaotic harmony, spinach, the possibility of godlessness, death

The inane details: I love music. My dream journey is to one day take a trip around the world listening to remote, native music as performed by local, mostly non-professional musicians; all rough and imperfect - what could be better? I have a particular affinity for Tom Waits (he's a veritable GOD), Loreena McKennet, Tori Amos, The Pogues, The Waifs, Jimmy Buffett, Evanescence, Mozart, Vas & Azam Ali, Wolgemut, Bob Dylan, Sheila Chandra, and many others.

I'm also a cinephile. I love almost all genres of movies. Current favorites: Lion in Winter, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Big Lebowski, American Beauty, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Amelie ("quinze" hehe), Kingdom of Heaven, Elizabeth, Motorcycle Diaries, Born into Brothels, and well, I could go on and on.

Favorite Artists: Hieronymus Bosch, Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss), Steve Hanks, Michael Parkes, and a bunch of my friends. Those artsy fartsy types are great!
If I could turn back the time...

I wouldn't change a thing. Good, bad, indifferent, everything that has happened up 'til now has made me who I am.

Mailfriends is for me...

a way to connect with people. I want to get to know people and how they exist in this crazy little event we call "life". There is so much "brushing by" in our lives and we don't get much of an opportunity to really get into the nitty gritty about others. Its the nitty gritty that makes me smile.

It's good to have...

individuality, self expression, art, music, and creativity. But above all of these, its good to have compassion for yourself and your fellow man.

What I love to do:

research medieval history,train horses,anything creative,make music,watch movies,study eastern philosophy,write,learn,experience,carouse with good people
