Hey,
Thank you for stopping by my profile, please feel free to take a seat and help yourself to a cup of tea! I've been away from mailfriends since I went back to University last December, but things are a fair bit quieter now and I intend to hanging around here a bit. I'm studying International Studies and intend to do a postgraduate in Disaster Management once that is finished. Then after that, and presuming I don't fail any assessments, I intend to work in the area of severe storm relief and perhaps make a few radio documentaries along the way. History and literature are two of my passions. For the first time I have started reading up on American history - oddly enough they didn't teach us anything about non-European history at school here... and that may have something to do with the monarch still reeling over that fact we got our ass kicked between 1775-1783. At the moment I am reading Pharsalia, the account of J. Ceasar's takeover of Rome , by Lucan. I have heard parts of this text quoted dramatically to some great effect, but the text in it's entirety could bore even a tortoise to tears. I am still of the opinion that most written work that pre-dates William Blake would not be worth saving from fire or flood. |
