More About Me

Did you ever see somebody helping a total stranger without expecting
anything in return? Did you come to a place where the people are like
that to you? Do you think it is possible? It happened to
me. Twice. 2003, I travelled to Montréal. I was overwhelmed by
friendlyness of the people and I just love many of the little things like
the "Bonjour, Hi!" greeting. Comprendo mucho, solamente quizás no comprendas mi respuesta. You can of course write to me if you are not from those places, I am only saying that if you are, you have a bonus with me. My German is good, my English is OK and my Spanish sucks, but I am working on that. No French, sorry. Got French ancestors, do not know the language. Shame on me. In school they convinced me it is better to learn Latin, what a waste of time. I would love to look at Dutch when I have my Spanish under control. What to expect I can discuss any topic that I think I am at least a bit knowledgable in. That excludes fashion. I can be very straightforward and even if I like you, I will tell you when I think your opinion sucks. Where I live Mülheim, NRW. It is part of the Ruhrgebiet, or Ruhrpott as we call it, which basically is a set of cities along the Ruhr river ranging from Duisburg to Dortmund and has about 5 million inhabitants in total. The area has been the industrial heart of germany after WWII with lots of coal and steel industry, but today there are only some heavily subsidized remains. You can call it a big city searching for its center, so it is a bit like LA. With fewer weapons. Düsseldorf and Cologne are close, the Netherlands are just one hour away. Very important facts Height: 1,77m / 5'8" Eyes: Brown Hair: If I have to pick a colour it's red, but over time there's variation from dark blonde to brown. That's not due to dyeing, but did I mention I used to live near a power plant? Skin: White, or pale if I did not have the chance to go to the southern hemisphere in winter time. Or like my doctor said: "Red hair, bright skin, congrats, that's an 80% ready-made allergic." Religion: Catholic. Thinking about converting to Protestantism for some time now, especially since there's this german popstar pope Places I have seen Africa: Marocco, Ghana, South Africa, Tunisia America: Argentina, Barbados, Brasil, Canada, Chile, Puerto Rico, Trinidad/Tobago, Uruguay, U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands AsiaPacific: Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, UAE Europe: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, Vatican What I like My job. It's what I always wanted to do Travel. And luckily it is part of my job Cats. Dogs are nice. But it's cats Computers. They changed the face of the earth and allow me to pay my bills DVDs. They made my English so much better RPGs. Both pen&paper or online Blackjack. Easy to learn, difficult to conquer Hitting the town on a Friday night. Best with My Music or My Movies What I do not like U.S. foreign politics. How could you? Getting less than eight hours of sleep Ringtone ads My music My secondary subject at the university and something that can make my day. There is nothing but standing in the front row, the band hitting the stage and everybody around you starts to scream and sweat their hearts out. Or sitting in the sweet spot of your carefully placed set of speakers with your neighbours gone. Here's a few songs I have strong feelings for. Don't worry if you less than half of those, lately I tend to choose either unknown artists or non-singles A Perfect Circle: The Outsider - They were right about you. Or: How to discredit in 5 words. Alanis Morrissette: Forgiven - Ever wonder why they call her "angry young woman"? How on earth could they publish a DVD that switches to some crappy-sounding live concert one second before the song's climax? Tori Amos: Hey Jupiter (Dakota Version) - So very longing it makes your chest explode. Heavy breathing on a slow lane Fiona Apple: Get Gone - A voice so rough for one moment and then sweet again. The one song I listened to 12 times in a row on a car trip The Beautiful South: Diamonds - Only a B-side but still their best one. It's a shame they fired Briana Dredg: Bug Eyes - Hearing the intro in an unexpected moment makes my face smile and my heart warm. A relieve after a difficult day. Jeremy Days: Food And Coffee - A long gone, but at their time the best german band with the first psychedelic song that appealed to me The Mayan Factor: Warflower - If you like Tool you will love this one. And you can download it for free. Can it get any better? Taproot: Myself - If life is a game, could I win in the end? Three Days Grace: I Hate Everything About You - Simply the perfect rock song Radiohead: Exit Music (For A Film) - Not even the Muse guys can suffer that beautifully VNV Nation: Beloved - To be listened to after 3am in slowly changing blue and purple light Wir sind Helden: Von hier an blind - Catchiest bridge ever and an excellent live band My Movies Action: Last Boy Scout - If the outside temparature would have to match the coolness of this one, you could watch it in Greenland only Animated: A Bug's Life - "Heimlich" becomes "Gustl" in the german version. Cartoon: The Little Mermaid - The last time Disney produced something beautiful Comedy: The Life of Brian - Know it almost by heart Drama: American Beauty - A truly deep movie. They should make it part of school education Fantasy/Horror: The Village - Not giving you LoTR here. Read the books, MataMata was interesting, great stuff. But the end of this one struck me more. Sci-Fi: 5th Element - If you are looking for style, do not look any further TV cartoon: Futurama - Zoidberg is the man, er, crab. TV series: Six Feet Under - Currently making my way through season 5 The funny part Heard it in German but it should work in any language. George W. is on a propaganda trip throughout the U.S. visiting a school. He explains his policy to the pupils and encourages them to ask questions. Little Bob raises his hand. "Dear Mr. President, I have three questions: 1. Why are you president although you received less votes than your opponent? 2. Why have we attacked Iraq without reason? 3. Don't you think that Hiroshima was the greatest terror attack of all times?" But before George W. can respond, the bell rings and everybody is having a break. 10 minutes later the session continues. This time, little Anna starts to talk. "Dear Mr. President, I have five questions: 1. Why are you president although you received less votes than your opponent? 2. Why have we attacked Iraq without reason? 3. Don't you think that Hiroshima was the greatest terror attack of all times? 4. Why did the bell ring 15 minutes early? 5. Where is Bob??" Wow, you're still with me. Then it's about time to send a message Liebe Grüsse, Marcus |
If I had 3 wishes...
People should reach a level of maturity that makes any law redundant. I would give up all three wishes to get that
Education is...
a good step in that direction
If I could be invisible...
It would be very exciting in the beginning, but being ignored permanentaly will turn out to be boring in the long run |
