Martian soil "could support life"

"Martian soil appears to contain sufficient nutrients to support life - or, at least, asparagus - Nasa scientists believe.

Preliminary analysis by the $420m (£210m) Phoenix Mars Lander mission on the planet's soil found it to be much more alkaline than expected.

Scientists working on the spacecraft project said they were "flabbergasted" by the discovery.

The find has raised hopes conditions on Mars may be favourable for life.

'We basically have found what appears to be the requirements, the nutrients, to support life, whether past, present or future,' said Sam Kounaves, the project's lead chemist, from the University of Arizona."

Through a discussion on another channel, I realized that the use of the internet can really make some people lazy. Do we depend on the internet too much, as not to bother going to the movies, library, special events,and stores to buy what we need? Or is it just an issue of convience and time management? What do you think?

grrr windows disc check

When checking for errors and doing a disc check on windows, it freezes at every attempt at 5% . Operating system is Vista. Did anyone ever encounter this? Also cannot download windows updates or defender updates since May 23.

Laptop Troubles!!!!!

Hi people, can anyone help me?!?! I was playing a DVD on my laptop, and I picked it up, and I heard what sounded like the disc scraping. So, now when I eject the disc drive, and insert it again, it makes this noise continually. Sounds like its going to eject but it doesn't. It also doesn't recognise any discs are in there:( Is my laptop knackered, or is there a simple solution?? I'd be happy for any help thank you.

This is program which allows you to run the classic point-and-click adventure games like the golden oldies such as Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Indiana Jones. You can find the program ready for download at http://www.scummvm.org/ . You do need the original files of the games which can be "installed" by taking the contents of the disc and placing it on the hard drive. This is sometimes necessary for programs like Monkey Island or Beneath a Steel Sky which aren't always compatible (depending on the age of your disc).

The advantage is you can port them to PSP, Iphone, Ipod Touch Screen, Ninteod DS, Nintendo Wii, Game Cube and in some cases the PS2.
