school ranking

In some countries there is a public school ranking. Parents can see in public media how good the schools in their neighbourhood are ranked.
This may be good for parents who are ready to invest much time (and money) for their kids' education. But is it also good for the state, the nation's level of educaton?
In this way the better schools have the "better" parents, the better teachers, more support and they become even better but the schools at the end of the scale become worse (they have the parents who are not so much interested in their kids' education, have less money, worse teachers, less support ...).

Is there a difference in your country between wages of men and women? In Germany figures show that there is big one. Women have an average of 14€ (20$) and men18€ (27$).
Of course this is because women tend to have less payed jobs (hair dresser ...) but even in the same business (banking) payment is different

educating children to be helpful?

If you are a student (or have been one) how did you get the money for studying? Parents, funding, work after lessons?
Was it difficult to earn enough?

In this day of credit cards and debit cards, are you still not comfortable unless you have cash on you at all times?

I had known this salesman, that always carried several hundred dollars with him. When he retired, he found he couldn't afford to do this anymore while living on a small pension and was constantly depressed because he felt lost without that buldging wallet.

I don't usually carry any money, only change for parking meters. Must put a real damper on today's pickpocket's budget.

In China, Going to University is one of the biggest things in someone's life.. So most of us would work very hard before university,, but when we go to university , many people will slack off..

What do you think of parents who believe that eduction should come solely from the classroom at school?
Do you think parents also have the responsibility to teach children outside of school, and to educate them with toys and hobbies and items that stimulate their minds in positive way?
